Glass Pickle Jar

I had a glass pickle jar, tossed it out today.
Took it to a recycle bin, not so far away.
Joined it with others to repurpose all the way.
Before long it will be a lovely bowl or tray.

Glass jars aren't used as much as they used to be.  It is inconvenient to find a place to throw them away.   On my bike ride I went over to the glass recycling bin to toss my glass pickle jar.   The bin is pretty full.   On my way over there, I though I should keep the jar to use for many other things, but decided it was time to take care of it now.

Keep up the great work to recycle.  Yes, it takes time, but helps keep out landfills a bit less full.

Walk-a-thon for the Fourth Grade Fieldtrip Fund

Hiawatha Elementary walks, now,
For the fourth grade fieldtrip fund.  Take a bow!
Every grade gets pledges.  They work and vow
To help one another.  Soon it's their turn and how!!

In May every grade at Hiawatha Elementary does the walk-a-thon to raise money for the fourth grade to go on a field trip to Seattle.   This pays for the buses, gas and admission for every fourth grader to go to the Pacific Science Center and the zoo.   It's an all day trip, with the classes leaving at 6:30 am and returning 8:30 p.m.    Emma (1st grade)  & Jacob (4th grade) both did the walk.
I was honored to contribute to a great cause.

Many schools do walk-a-thons in lieu of selling cookies, candy, magazines, wrapping paper or what not.  I would much rather donate directly to the cause than to something I don't really want.   Congratulations to Hiawatha Elementary and all other schools and contributors that do the same.

Chinese Elm Seeds = Six Bags Full

We are surrounded by Chinese elm trees.
Dry seeds fill my gutter, lawns and yard with ease.
Doesn't matter if I scream and fall to my knees.
I end up with 6 bags for the trash, if you please.

Every year since we have move here, we get inundated with Chinese elm seeds in the spring.  I hate them.  Doesn't matter how hard I work at getting them cleaned up, there is always more to remind me of the little trees to come.  Some neighbors have trimmed theirs back, which helps.   All up and down the street they fill the gutter.   We should have moved to a less messy area.   Their shade is nice though. I have to admit.

Sharing Talents for All to Enjoy

There's a gal I know who share's her talent.
For all to enjoy whether straight or bent.
Gorgeous toppers and quilts is her intent.
This love she has is time well spent.

For our recent DUP meeting she made a topper for every table.   They were all different colors and patterns.   This green one was my favorite.  I should have taken photos of more.   Thanks, Joan.  You rock!!!

Creations and Colors

I love flowers and bought these for $3.
See the red and white contrast of colors.
This bouquet made me happy, helped my hollers.
When things got bad.  I could have used Mahlers.

It only takes a minute to arrange flowers.  They brighten anyone's day.   I really needed it last week, when things went from bad, to worse to the worst ever.  Fortunately, I survived and it has all been resolved.   This gorgeous bouquet made all the difference.

Pick some up for your loved one or for yourself today.

Snow Scraped by A Saint

How beautiful is our clean, snow scraped street.
Thanks to neighbor, Dave, he served us this treat.
More city shovels our road would like to meet.
With open arms the workers, we surely shall greet.

It seems that the neighboring streets get attention, but ours never does.   Yes, it is a cul-de-sac, but so are many others that are cleared.   Week in and week out, storm in and storm out, we are neglected.   At least looking on the other side of the road we feel that way.
But, Dave noticed.  He drove over with his tractor and cleared every snowy drop, piling it high, away from mail boxes, approaches and such.   We love you Dave. Oh, yes, we do.   You have made our lives less blue.  When we are stuck, we'll call you.  Yes, Dave, we love you!!!
